Primary and Upper Elementary Schools

Beginning in the fall of 2009, Our Mother of Sorrows and Saint Ignatius of Loyola Schools will move into a different model:

OMS/SI Primary School - grades Pre-K to 3^rd at St. Ignatius Campus (43^rd Street and Wallace).

OMS/SI Upper Elementary - grades 4^th through 8^th at Our Mother of Sorrows Campus (48^th Street and Lancaster Ave.).

Advantages to the big move:

· Allows us to focus our attention on improving the academics in an age appropriate fashion

· Resource room at OMS for the children in grades 5^th to 8^th

· Pre-K & K children will have gym in the gym

· Title I computer program for all our K through 3^rd graders

· Science room at OMS

· A reading activities room at SI

· Teachers will work with grade partners

· No need to transport children back and forth for activities

· Leaves us room to grow

· Specials will continue as usual

· Elwyn and Title I services will continue (as long as government funding is available)

· Before and after care will be held in both buildings

· School lunch program will remain the same

We are very excited about this change and believe this decision will benefit everyone. We truly believe we are one community and value the rich histories of both our schools.
